Alison is working on earning her summer time activities badges for Girl Scouts. She has to pick ten activities from a list of options. So far she has learned to snorkel, gone to another state, visited an amusement park, and made a cherry pie from scratch. I stepped back and did as little as possible, and I can honestly say she did almost everything herself. Not only that, it was delicious.
Jack never learned to love the cot bed Richard made for him. It’s a shame because I thought it was pretty cool. I took our big overstuffed chair that matches the sofa out of the office and put that in the place of his bed. He loves that. We’ve also rearranged the office so the kids each have a nice desk. I’ve decluttered a bunch of books, workbooks, and art supplies. I love organization and neatness when I have it, so I just sat in that room for a long time even though I had no particular reason to be in there. I think the kids are going to like having a workspace that is semi-private. Previously, if they wanted to use their own desks they had to go their rooms. That didn’t work very well for our style of homeschooling because I like to be hands on. I like to keep an eye on what they’re working on so I can help them with any corrections and we can more easily discuss things as they come up. We’ve been using the kitchen table, but I think this will help us keep everything more organized. If they want privacy, their bedrooms are still there if they want it.

You should not let her go to another state or visit an amusement park by herself!

Put a few pieces of bacon in the cot bed – he may change his mind.

WTG Alison on the cherry pie!!
Jack’s no dummy — an overstuffed chair beats a cot any day of the week!!
Very nice on the new homeschooling space
. I love shifting, reorganizing, repurposing, etc. — keeps things from getting stale and boring.
